Poster 1

By : Ara Deya Diawangga & Rifqoh Nu'ma Anisah
Summary : The poster discusses the cycle of fear in the process of learning to write. It explains that fear and anxiety can negatively impact continuous learning. This fear can stem from various factors, including the perception that writing is difficult. The poster also introduces the concept of Second Language Writing Anxiety (SLWA), which involves somatic anxiety, cognitive anxiety, and avoidance behavior. Additionally, it highlights difficulties students may face in punctuation, language usage, and writing skills. The writer's cognitive processes play a crucial role in decision-making during writing, including language choice and content selection. The environment in the classroom, including the teacher's language proficiency and teaching methods, can influence students' attitudes towards learning. Another interesting concept discussed is the "cycle of self-fulfilling prophecy," where a writer's belief that writing is difficult reinforces their anxiety, leading to avoidance behavior. This perpetuates a cycle of difficulty in both learning and teaching writing.
